• Comment: Please note that people do not get Wikipedia articles just for standing as candidates in elections they have not already won. The notability test for politicians is holding a notable office, not just running for one, while unelected candidates get articles only if they were already notable enough for articles for some other reason before they were candidates.
  But this is referenced entirely to primary sources that are not support for notability, with absolutely no evidence of WP:GNG-worthy reliable source coverage about him shown at all, so you have not demonstrated that he has the preexisting notability needed to qualify for an article in advance of election day.
  If he wins the seat in November, then he'll qualify for an article on that time on the grounds of having graduated from candidate to incoming officeholder, but running for a seat he hasn't already held yet is not sufficient for a Wikipedia article to already exist in January. Rob Altman (born September 12, 1973) is an American military veteran, public servant, and Republican political candidate. He is a former member of the Denton County Appraisal District Board and a candidate for the United States House of Representatives in Texas’s 10th congressional district in the 2026 election.^[1]

Altman was born in Brunswick, Georgia, to a career U.S. Navy enlisted servicemember father and a homemaker mother. As part of a military family, he moved frequently during childhood and attended schools in Tennessee, Pennsylvania, and Florida. Due to family hardships, he completed his secondary education through a General Educational Development (GED) diploma.

Altman enlisted in the United States Army in 1992. He completed One Station Unit Training (OSUT) and Airborne School at Fort Benning, Georgia, and was assigned to Alpha Company, 3rd Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Serving as an 11B Infantryman, he held roles including rifleman and was selected for special duty with the 82nd Airborne All-American Chorus, where he served as a bass section leader and emcee.

In 1996, Altman enlisted in the United States Navy with the intent of attending Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL (BUD/S) training. After sustaining a shoulder injury, he was reassigned to Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Two (HS-2) as an Information Systems Technician. He deployed aboard the USS Constellation in 1999 as part of a Western Pacific deployment supporting Operation Southern Watch. That same year, he earned an Associate of Arts degree from Central Texas College.^[2]

In 2001, Altman was selected for the U.S. Navy Enlisted Commissioning Program and attended the Naval Science Institute in Newport, Rhode Island. He later attended Texas A&M University, graduating and commissioning as a naval officer in 2004. He was designated a Distinguished Naval Graduate and became a member of Phi Alpha Theta, the national history honor society.^[3]

Altman was assigned to the USS Vicksburg (CG-69), serving as Assistant Operations Officer, Administrative Officer, Officer of the Deck, and General Quarters Officer of the Deck. He deployed to the Arabian Gulf with the USS John F. Kennedy Strike Group in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.^[4]

In 2005, Altman completed an inter-service transfer to the U.S. Army and attended the Infantry Officer Basic Course. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). He deployed to Samarra, Iraq, serving in multiple command and operational roles during combat operations.^[5]

Altman later attended the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies and earned a Master of International Affairs degree from the George H. W. Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University in December 2013. He also completed graduate studies certificate in National Security Studies with the U.S. Army War College.^[6]

He attended the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, was promoted to the rank of Major, and later served in advisory and strategic planning roles, including an assignment in Saudi Arabia supporting U.S.–Saudi military cooperation.

Altman medically retired from the U.S. Army after more than 25 years of combined military service.

Following military retirement, Altman participated in the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Hiring Our Heroes program and completed an Operations Fellowship with Amazon. He later worked in federal business development in the construction industry, participated in the J.P. Morgan Chase Military Pathways program, and served as Vice President for Strategic Business Execution with Wells Fargo Merchant Services.^[7]

Altman was a Republican primary candidate for Denton County Commissioner, Precinct 2, in 2022 and for Denton County Tax Assessor-Collector in 2024.^[8]

In December 2024, he was selected by local taxing entities to serve on the Denton County Appraisal District Board. He resigned from the board in December 2025 while preparing for his congressional campaign.^[9]

Altman has been involved in veterans’ and civic organizations, including serving as a mentor for the McFerrin Center for Entrepreneurship’s Entrepreneur Bootcamp for Veterans (EBV). He has also participated in veterans’ advocacy, scouting organizations, and national security education initiatives.^[10]

Altman’s military decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Air Assault Badge, Basic Parachutist Badge, German Armed Forces Badge for Military Proficiency (Gold), and the Order of Saint Maurice (Centurion).^[11]
