Ride Along 3 is an upcoming American buddy cop action comedy film. It will be directed by Tim Story from a screenplay written by Daniel Gold. Ice Cube and Kevin Hart, who will also co-produce the film, will reprise their roles from previous installments as James Peyton and Ben Barber, respectively, and the film will serve as a direct sequel to Ride Along 2 (2016).

Ride Along 3 was originally announced in October 2016, with Story returning to direct, and would be written by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi. Following years of development limbo, the film would enter early development in April 2026, with most of the creative team in talks of returning.

Ride Along 3 is set to be released by Universal Pictures.

In October 2016, it was announced that a third Ride Along film was in the works, with Tim Story returning to direct and Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi returning to write the screenplay.[1] However, following the announcement, no updates would be carried through. On April 10, 2026, it was reported that Story, producer Will Packer, and stars Ice Cube and Kevin Hart were in early talks to return for the third film, with Daniel Gold penning the film's screenplay.[2][3]

By April 2026, the project was stated to be once again in active development. Ice Cube and Hart are expected to reprise their lead roles, while Tim Story will serve as director with a new draft of the script written by Daniel Gold. Will Packer, Ice Cube, Kevin Hart, and Tim Story will will serve as producers. The project is intended to be a joint-venture production between Universal Pictures, Cube Vision, Hartbeat Productions, and The Story Company.[4]

Release

Ride Along 3 is set to be released by Universal Pictures.[2]
