Raymond Island Ferry is a Vehicle and passenger ferry service operating across the McMillan Strait in Gippsland Lakes, Victoria, Australia. The ferry provides the only direct road link between Paynesville, Victoria on the mainland and Raymond Island, Victoria. It is operated by the East Gippsland Shire Council.

Overview
The Raymond Island Ferry connects Paynesville and Raymond Island, transporting both vehicles and pedestrians across a short water crossing of approximately four minutes.[1] The ferry operates frequently throughout the day and is considered an essential transport service for residents and visitors.
Pedestrians and cyclists travel free of charge, while vehicles must pay a return fare.[1]
History
The ferry has long served as the primary transport link between Raymond Island and the mainland township of Paynesville. The island is located only about 200 metres from the mainland and relies on the ferry for daily access.[2]
In 2017 the service was temporarily suspended after inspections discovered significant rust damage to the ferry’s hull, requiring repairs costing more than A$800,000.[3]
Operations
The ferry operates from The Esplanade in Paynesville to the Raymond Island ferry terminal. Crossings typically take around four minutes.[1]
The service carries both pedestrians and vehicles, with fares payable upon boarding using electronic payment methods. Various pass systems are available for regular users, including annual passes and multi-trip cards.[1]
Role and significance
The ferry is regarded as a vital infrastructure link supporting residents, businesses, and tourism on Raymond Island.
