Ravi Chidambaram is a Singapore-based investment banker, entrepreneur and sustainability advocate. He is co-founder and president of TC Capital, an Asian boutique investment bank headquartered in Singapore, and founder and chief executive officer of Rimm Sustainability, a technology platform focused on environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategy and reporting.[1][2]

Over a banking career spanning more than three decades, he has held senior roles at global financial institutions including Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank, Bear Stearns, Credit Suisse and Commerzbank before moving into entrepreneurial and board positions in finance and sustainability.[3][4]

Early life and education

Corporate and conference biographies state that Chidambaram holds a Bachelor of Arts in political economy from Duke University, graduating in 1985.[5]

After Duke he was awarded a Fulbright scholarship and studied political science at Kiel University in Germany between 1985 and 1986.[4]

In 1993 he completed graduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania, earning a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School and a Master of Arts from the Joseph H. Lauder Institute of Management and International Studies.[3][4]

Investment banking career

Early career

Chidambaram began his career in 1986 as a financial analyst in the investment banking division of Kidder, Peabody & Co.[4]

In 1989 he joined Commerzbank AG as a credit officer in the international division’s sovereign risk group.[4]

After completing his graduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania, he joined Goldman Sachs in 1993 as an associate in the corporate finance department, working on telecommunications transactions in Asia.[4]

In 1996 he joined Deutsche Bank as a director in the investment banking division and headed the Asian telecommunications and media investment banking group based in Singapore.[3]

In 1998 Chidambaram moved to Credit Suisse Securities (Europe) Limited in London as a director in the European telecommunications investment banking group.[3]

In 1999 he joined Bear, Stearns & Co. as managing director and head of the European technology investment banking group.[3]

TC Capital

In 2002 Chidambaram co-founded TC Capital Pte. Ltd. in Singapore together with economist and investment banker Doctor Tommy Chin-Chiu Tan.[6]

TC Capital describes itself as an independent Asian investment banking advisory firm specialising in mergers and acquisitions advisory, capital raising and growth-capital transactions across Asia.[1]

Chidambaram serves as president of TC Capital and has led the firm since its founding.[3]

Rimm Sustainability

Chidambaram is the founder and chief executive officer of Rimm Sustainability Pte. Ltd., a Singapore-based sustainability technology platform focused on ESG analytics and reporting.[7]

The company develops software tools designed to help corporations and investors manage sustainability reporting, ESG data and climate-risk analysis.[8]

In interviews with sustainability and finance publications, Chidambaram has discussed ESG frameworks, climate-adaptation investment and the development of sustainability reporting tools for emerging markets.[9]

Academic and speaking roles

Conference and speaker biographies describe Chidambaram as an adjunct professor of sustainability at Yale-NUS College in Singapore.[10]

He has spoken at international conferences on sustainable finance, climate risk and ESG investment, including events organised by Eco-Business and Caixin Global.[11]

Board memberships

Chidambaram serves as Lead Independent Director of UpHealth Group Limited, formerly Don Agro International Ltd., a Singapore-listed company.[4]
