Description

The pizzeria Pizza Kat serves New York–style pizza at the intersection of 21st Avenue and West Burnside Street in Portland, Oregon.[2][3] The Alley Kat pizza has meatballs.[4] The Love & Hate is a Hawaiian pizza with ham, pineapple, chili peppers, and sweet onion.[5] Other pizza toppings include fennel sausage, marinated peppers, and trumpet mushrooms.[6] The pizzeria also has gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options.[7]

History

Scott and Emily Ketterman are owners of the family-operated business,[8][9][10] which opened during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Oregonian noted that the business launched around the same time as several other pizzerias.[11] For Pizza Week in 2022, Pizza Kat offered a special twice-baked potato pizza.[12]

Reception

The Oregonian included Pizza Kat in a 2022 list of the "best new pandemic-time" pizzerias.[5] The business later ranked second and fourth in the best pizza category of the newspaper's Readers Choice Awards in 2024 and 2026, respectively.[8][13]

Lindsay D. Mattison ranked Pizza Kat number 18 in Tasting Table's 2023 list of Portland's best pizza.[7] Ben Coleman included Pizza Kat in Eater Portland's 2025 overview of the city's best pizza.[4]
