Philipp Straub (born 1974) is an Austrian electronic musician, DJ and record producer.[1][2][3][4]. He is married and lives in Vienna.

Biography

Early Life

His first meeting with electronic music was in 1990 when Hannes Jagerhofer made the frist clubbings at the Vienna Museum of Technology.[5]

Soon after he was part of one of the early electronic music acts called „The Space Navigator“ and performed as "DJ Felipe". The Space Navigator was the first electronic music live act from Austria signed to the international major label Sony Music. He also started to publish the international event magazine “Partysan” in Austria from 1993 to 1997.[6] In that time he played an influential role in the early European rave scene and was among the second wave of electronic music deejays touring internationally. His first label was called Vienna Soundpool, that changed to Titan Productions.[5]

Career

He toured the world and played many of the biggest events such as Love Parade, Mayday Festival, Time Warp, Creamfield BA and many others.

In 1998, the name of Straub’s agency Titan Production changed into “Titan International”. Titan works with international artists as well as brands from the EDM scene such as Carl Cox, Paul Kalkbrenner, Solomun, elrow, and other.[2] In 2016 Straub performed at Carl Cox final residency at Space Ibiza.

Straub used the standard Technics 1210 setup for many years and toured with vinyls. In 2000 he got introduced from Richie Hawtin to Final Scratch and road tested the beta version of it successfully. After implementing the setup into his tours he played fully digital for some years. Around 2010 he switched to Pioneer setup and is playing with it since then.

He has helped to bring Love Parade to Vienna, Mayday to Budapest, Timewarp to Vienna and Prague.[2]

From 2013 to 2018 he was head mentor and co-developer of Coca-Cola’s “Burn Residency” program.[7]

In 2017 Straub joined Sekoya Management in Dubai. First he worked as consultant until the first venue “Soho Garden” opened. Since then he acts as director of music also for the venues “Soho Beach”, “Code” and “Hive”.[4][8]
