Pervaiz Ahmad Buttar
Pervaiz Buttar is an Australian solicitor based in Sydney, New South Wales. He is the principal partner of Buttar Caldwell & Co. Solicitors[1] and has practised law in Australia for over three decades.
Early life and Family
Buttar was born into the to a Buttar Jatt family. His father, Haji Muhammad Anwar Buttar,[2] was a Senior Advocate of Supreme Court of Pakistan.
He is the second oldest of six siblings. His eldest brother, Muhammad Javed Buttar', served as a justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
Third brother F. Jamshed Buttar is a retired lieutenant colonel from the prestigious Pakistan Army and is settled in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. His wife Rukhsana Jamshed Buttar was a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan and served as Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Petroleum and Natural Resources.
The oldest sister Gul Fatima lives in Lahore and the United States. Second Dr. Amna Buttar, lived in New York City and was a practicing physician at NYU Langone Medical Center. She has specialized in geriatrics. The youngest sister Dr. Aisha Buttar lives in North Carolina, is also a physician with specialty in pain medicine.
Buttar has lived in Australia since the early 1980s.
Wajiha Ahmed is Buttar's eldest daughter, she is an Australian lawyer and mediator. She served as a partner at Buttar Caldwell & Co. Solicitors from 2001 to 2025 and has practised in civil litigation, dispute resolution, migration, employment, and family law matters.
In 2025, she commenced with the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia as Director – Cultural Liaison Officers and Director – Cultural and Language Diversity and Inclusion. She is an accredited National Mediator Accreditation System (NMAS) mediator and has held academic and public service roles in multicultural and human rights policy in New South Wales.
Mehreen Ahmed is Buttar's youngest daughter, she is a business professional and co-founder of MAAD Collective[3], a Sydney-based strategic and creative consultancy. She has worked with organisations including Ogilvy Singapore,[4] Wieden+Kennedy Shanghai,[5] and MullenLowe Singapore on regional and global accounts.
She founded the FMCG brand WeLove Pizza[6], which operates in the Australian grocery market. MAAD Collective works with organisations on business strategy, branding, and marketing initiatives.
Education and training
Buttar completed a Master of Laws degree in 1971.
He was admitted to the Supreme Court of New South Wales as a barrister in 1984 and was re-admitted as a solicitor in 1989.
Legal and professional career
Before practising law, Buttar worked as an accountant. He also served as a Specialist Reserve Officer with the Royal Australian Air Force.
He is the principal partner of Buttar Caldwell & Co. Solicitors, a Sydney-based law firm practising in personal injury, workers compensation, and public liability law. He has led the firm for more than 25 years.

Buttar has held teaching and academic roles at several institutions, including:

Personal life
Outside his professional work, Buttar plays golf and has been a member of Carnarvon Golf Club for over 20 years.
