Dr Paul Bate is a British civil servant and former physicist who served as Chief Executive of the UK Space Agency.

Career

Bate began his professional career in physics before moving into public service.[1]

He later worked in senior positions in the healthcare technology sector, including at Babylon Health, before returning to government service.[2]

UK Space Agency

In 2021, Bate was appointed Chief Executive of the UK Space Agency.[3] As chief executive, he oversaw the agency’s strategy and operations, including efforts to expand the UK’s civil space programme and strengthen regional space sector development.[4]

In 2025, it was announced that Bate would step down from his role as chief executive.[5]
