Parth Raturi (born 26 September 2007) is an Indian dancer, social activist, and student journalist from Uttarakhand. He is recognized for his involvement in regional administrative movements and his digital reporting on governance issues within the state.

Early life

Born on 26 September 2007, Raturi began his public engagement at an early age as a performer..[1]He participated in the reality television series India's Got Talent.[2]Following his performances, he was recognized and felicitated as a child artist in Haridwar for his contributions to the arts.[3]

Activism

Raturi has been a prominent participant in the movement demanding that Gairsain be declared the permanent capital of Uttarakhand. In March 2026, he organized and participated in an indefinite relay hunger strike at Ekta Vihar, Dehradun, to draw attention to the demand for a permanent capital.[4]His protests have included participation in marches during adverse weather conditions, highlighting the persistence of the youth-led movement.[5]He has also been involved in public demonstrations at Jantar Mantar, Delhi, regarding regional administrative requirements.[6] In March 2026, Raturi initiated an indefinite relay hunger strike at Ekta Vihar in Dehradun, advocating for Gairsain to be declared the permanent capital of Uttarakhand. The demonstration, which emphasized the historical significance of the statehood movement and the sacrifices of those involved, drew support from various community members and retired administrative officials. Former IAS officer Vinod Prasad Raturi provided guidance and support for the youth-led protest, which also highlighted concerns regarding administrative accountability and civic maintenance at the protest site.[7] During the campaign for the permanent capital of Uttarakhand, activist Parth Raturi expressed criticism regarding the government's approach to the issue of Gairsain. Highlighting the longevity of the movement, Raturi noted that proponents have engaged in prolonged protest actions, including a relay hunger strike at Ekta Vihar that lasted for over 80 days. In response to what organizers described as a lack of government engagement, Raturi and other activists initiated a padayatra (foot march) from Dehradun to raise public awareness. The organizing committee has characterized this march as an effort to emphasize regional identity and the commitment to establishing Gairsain as the permanent capital, calling for increased participation from state residents and local activists as the movement enters a new phase.[8]

In December 2025, Raturi joined a public appeal initiative in Almora to garner support for the designation of Gairsain as the permanent capital of Uttarakhand. This initiative was part of a broader effort to mobilize residents and regional stakeholders to voice their demands for the capital's formal establishment.[9]
