Draft:Nadia Carlsten

  • Comment: Still not demonstrating notability, and still namechecking rather than summarising sources. Broadly speaking this subject will need 3 robust examples of WP:GOLDENRULE and that is not yet demonstrated. ChrysGalley (talk) 09:50, 1 March 2026 (UTC)

Dr. Nadia Carlsten is an International technology executive whose work has focused on artificial intelligence infrastructure and quantum computing. She served as the founding chief executive officer (CEO) of the Danish Centre for AI Innovation (DCAI), the company established to own and operate Denmark’s national AI supercomputer, Gefion.[1][2]

Education

Carlsten studied at the University of Virginia and holds a PhD in engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.[1][3]

Career

Public sector and early technology roles

Carlsten’s career history included roles at the United States Department of Energy (2013) and the United States Department of Homeland Security (2016–2019).[3]

Amazon Web Services

Carlsten worked at Amazon Web Services (AWS) between 2019 and 2022.[3] In an Amazon profile, she is described as having joined the Amazon Braket team as a senior technical product manager in 2020 and later serving as head of product at the AWS Center for Quantum Computing.[4]

SandboxAQ

In 2022, trade press reported that Carlsten joined SandboxAQ as vice president of product.[5] SandboxAQ is a Google spinout and Carlsten worked on product development and strategy there from 2022 to 2024.[3] Carlsten left SandboxAQ to lead Denmark’s supercomputer initiative.[6]

Danish Centre for AI Innovation (DCAI)

In August 2024, the Novo Nordisk Foundation and Denmark’s Export and Investment Fund (EIFO) announced Carlsten’s appointment as CEO of Danish Centre for AI Innovation A/S (DCAI), a public–private initiative established to own and operate the AI supercomputer Gefion.[1][3][6] Gefion was developed in collaboration with NVIDIA, with the aim of enabling large-scale AI research and innovation for public and private users.[3]

In October 2024, Gefion was inaugurated in Copenhagen at an event attended by King Frederik X of Denmark, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang and Carlsten.[7][8][9] Independent reporting described Gefion as part of Denmark’s push to expand AI research capacity, including in life sciences and drug discovery.[9][10]

In January 2026, DCAI announced that Carlsten had chosen to step down as CEO following the establishment and scale-up of the organisation and Gefion’s market launch.[2]

Media

Carlsten has appeared in Danish business media discussing Gefion and AI strategy, including an episode of Børsen’s podcast Bag strategien (Topchefernes strategi), published in April 2025.[11]
