Molly Long is a well-known pop culture choreographer for her studio, Project 21. Often described as a "Modern-day Fosse", her choreography has become widely recognizable. She is known for upbeat routines featuring sharp jazz technique and strong musicality, with her dances described as explosive, yet clean. Her most recent pieces, "Double Dutch Bus" and "Pop Muzik," have gained huge amounts of popularity through social media, having millions of views on TikTok.[1]
Early Life
Molly Long was born on August 21st, 1992. From the ages of three to ten, she trained at her mother's dance studio, California Dance Academy. She also trained at her aunt's studio, Dance Precisions.[2] When Molly turned 16, she developed a love for art, taking AP art training in high school. She later started to work at Dance Precisions as a teacher and choreographer. Many of her early dance pieces brought attention to her, such as "My Boyfriend's Back," which won national titles at Hall of Fame Nations, and "Single Ladies".[3] From the ages of 18 to 22, her choreography got her featured on multiple dance TV shows, including America's Got Talent, Abby's Ultimate Dance Competition, and Raising Asia.[4]
Career
Molly Long created her dance training company, Project 21, in Orange County, California. Project 21 started as a 20-person studio. Over time and popularity growth, her company has become one of the largest dance companies in California. Molly inspires many with her choreography, and many of her dances get taken to TikTok, where they end up going viral.[5] In 2024, Molly started to take her choreography skills to the NBA, and she began creating dances for different teams. These include dances for the Los Angeles Laker Girls and for the New York Knicks Dancers. Both in 2024.[6]
Achievements
Molly Long was named "America's Favorite Choreographer" by the industry Dance Awards in 2022. In 2014, her piece "Fever" won an Industry Dance award. She also had her choreography featured on many television shows. In 2015, Long choreographed the dance, "Stomp The Yard" for the Abby Lee Dance Company. She choreographed other pieces, such as "Girlz Night Out" and "Moulin Rouge" in 2014. She was also seen in Abby Lee's Ultimate Dance Competition as a guest choreographer during season two.[7] In 2022, Molly Long was named "America's Favorite Choreographer" by the Industry Dance Awards. She has also taught master classes at many dance conventions for students, including Jump Dance Convention and Revel Dance Convention.[8]

Her style is characterized by "explosive yet clean" movements, as well as intense musicality and sharp jazz techniques. Her work often features intricate, fast-paced routines that have been described as a “modern-day Fosse" by some in the industry.
