Mercy Rule was an American Christian heavy metal band formed in Detroit, Michigan, in 1986. The band was associated with the Christian metal movement of the late 1980s and released one studio album through R.E.X. Records.

History

Early years

Mercy Rule gained attention after contributing a song to the Regency Records compilation album Underground Metal. The appearance helped the band gain recognition from publications including Kerrang! and eventually led to a recording contract with R.E.X. Records.

R.E.X. Records

In 1989, Mercy Rule released their only full-length album, OverRuled, through R.E.X. Records. The band reportedly signed a one-album agreement with options for additional releases, though no follow-up album was completed. Mercy Rule disbanded in 1990.
