Mauri Haze (born Maurisa Golden; June 19, 1997) is an American alternative hip hop recording artist, creative director, and multimedia visual artist based in Portland, Oregon. Known for her multidisciplinary approach to creative direction, her work spans musical composition, cinematic storytelling, fashion modeling, and visual production.
Career
Music and Visual Arts
Haze operates as an independent recording artist and creative director within the Pacific Northwest music scene. Musically, her work integrates elements of alternative hip hop (alt-hop), atmospheric trap textures, and melodic rap. Her artistic style is defined by an emphasis on visual narrative, cinematic set design, and immersive conceptual art.
Her creative presence within the regional arts, fashion, and culture sector is documented through collaborative visual multimedia projects, editorial modeling, and local media profiles. She has worked as a featured model and creative collaborator with the Portland-based female-led creative agency and brand Ladies of Paradise, appearing across their collaborative visual media and brand portfolios. In 2019, she was featured as a model in the high-concept surrealist editorial series Interconnectivity by fine-art photographer Rob Woodcox, styled and produced in partnership with Ladies of Paradise and published internationally by Nakid Magazine.[1]
In 2017, she was featured in an editorial photojournalism spotlight by Willamette Week, highlighting the personal perspectives of Black and Brown creative professionals living and working within the Portland community.[2] Additionally, her musical performances and community events have been highlighted within regional event coverage by local publications, such as The Portland Mercury.[3][4] Her creative footprint is further cataloged across music data frameworks and streaming platforms, including her discography on Apple Music and verified transcriptions on Genius lyrics databases.[5]
Media Appearances
Beyond her independent music production, Haze has been featured in national journalism and film databases. In 2024, she appeared as a featured commentator in a public broadcast video segment for The New York Times, discussing contemporary sociopolitical perspectives among young voters in the United States.[6] Additionally, her creative contributions to visual multimedia projects are cataloged on the Internet Movie Database (IMDb).[7]
