MC Ra (born 02 October 1995), also known by his initials MC Ra or simply Ra, is a Sri Lankan R&B and hip hop artist and music producer who writes songs in the Tamil language. He has collaborated with most of the music artists in Sri Lanka.
Early life and career:
MC Ra was born in Colombo and raised in Batticaloa, Sri Lanka. He studied Information Technology (IT) at Madurai Kamaraj University. To pursue his growing interest in the media industry, he began working part-time in local media.
In 2014, he released the music album Abhiyaam with his friends at the Colombo Tamil Sangam in Sri Lanka. He also began recording songs with several local rap artists. In 2015, Sri Lankan rap pioneer Krishan Maheson was introduced and later collaborated with him for the song "Ilangai Tamilan", which brought together a group of talented rap artists. This was Sri lankan first independent Tamil Rap cypher (2016) and also he performed at various local music festivals and the "British Council" in various parts of Sri Lanka.
