In 2020, Moby established Little Walnut Productions[1] with producer Lindsay Hicks, who serves as a principal creative partner in shaping the company's slate. Little Walnut produces projects promoting creative activism across scripted and unscripted film and television. They are represented by literary and talent agency Verve.[2]
Little Walnut's inaugural feature documentary, Moby Doc[3], was released in May 2021. RogerEbert.com described the film as one that “breathes thrilling new life into a safe and conventional genre.”[4]
In January 2023, Little Walnut released its second documentary feature, Punk Rock Vegan Movie, directed by Moby. The film, which examines the intersection of punk rock music and animal activism, features interviews with Rob Zombie, Dave Navarro, Kat Von D, and Ian MacKaye. It won the best documentary award at the San Pedro International Film Festival. Punk Rock Vegan Movie premiered as the opening night film at Slamdance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. Moby subsequently released the film for free on his YouTube channel.[5]
Little Walnut's first scripted feature as Executive Producer, Eternal Return[6], premiered at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival. The fantasy drama stars Kit Harrington and Naomi Scott and was directed by Yaniv Raz. The company's second feature in this capacity The Incomer[7] will premiere at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival. Starring Domhnall Gleeson & Gayle Rankin and directed by Louis Paxton, The Incomer is set on a remote Scottish island where an awkward council worker is tasked with uprooting siblings from their homeland. The film was included on The Playlist's 150 most anticipated films of 2026.[8]
The company has helped produce independent documentary features addressing a variety of issues including animal rights, human rights, climate change, environmentalism, and creative integrity. In 2025 they premiered Black is Beautiful: The Kwame Brathwaite Story[9] at DOC NYC (directed by Yemi Bamiro) and The Ark[10] at Woodstock Film Festival (directed by Jeremy Chilnick and Viacheslav Rakovskyi). Other credits include Meat The Future[11] (dir. Liz Marshall), Slay[12] (dir. Rebecca Capelli), and Rowdy Girl[13] (dir. by Jason Goldman).
The company has made several short films including Why I'm a Vegan,[14] directed by Hicks and co-produced a stop-motion animation short film Super Cow [15] by director/writer Dustin Brown. In addition, Little Walnut has produced several Moby music videos, including “Natural Blues[16]” (featuring Gregory Porter and Amythyst Kiah) and "Walk with Me"[17] (featuring Lady Blackbird).
Little Walnut produced the Moby Pod[18] podcast (hosted by Moby and Hicks) from 2022 to 2025 featuring guests including Ed Begley Jr., Lisa Edelstein, Dan Buettner, Peter Kalmus, Steve-O, and Joe Manganiello. Their episode with Hunter Biden (in one of his rare interviews), earned significant media coverage including from NBCNews,[19] Rolling Stone,[20] BBC News,[21] and Time Magazine[22] as Biden claimed Republicans were trying to harm him to “destroy a presidency.”
Little Walnut is currently in post-production on their first scripted feature, Tecie,[23] penned by Moby, directed by Mark Webber,[24] and produced by Hicks and Teresa Palmer. The film is based on the activist culture of the Los Angeles animal rights community and is set to star Sarah Jeffery, Mena Massoud, and others.
