The Latin Business Association (LBA) is a trade association based in Los Angeles, California, that supports Latino-owned businesses.[4]

It has evolved into a prominent group focused on the growth of Latino enterprises through events, training, and partnerships.[5]

History

It welcomed women leaders, with Lillian Aguilar becoming its first woman president in 1989.[6] It later doubled membership and developed an annual expo that attracted thousands of entrepreneurs.[7]

It hired its first full-time president in 2000 and pursued international trade initiatives, including partnerships with Mexican institutions in Jalisco.[8][9]

Activities

They organize events that facilitate matchmaking between Latino suppliers and corporate buyers, generating millions in contracts.[10]

Leadership and structure

Leadership has included figures such as Ruben Guerra, who served as chairman and focused on expanding programs in areas including homeownership counseling and corporate sponsorships.[11][12]

In the late 2000s it reported around 1,200 members, an annual budget of approximately $350,000, and annual dues of $250.[13]

Impact

The LBA has facilitated international trade ties and provided a platform for policy advocacy and community engagement.[14]
