LP13

Album cover for The Silver Void by LP13

LP13 is a musical artist that began creating progressive electronic music in 2013 but has only really surfaced in the last couple of years with the release of the self-titled debut album in November 2023. Over the course of the last couple of years LP13 has released many albums which range from soundscapes to melodic synth tunes. LP13's double album The Silver Void which has been remastered was reviewed both in Issue 118 of music magazine Electronic Sound which was very favourable and featured a half-page picture of the iconic album cover and later, the album was also reviewed on the Album of the Year website where the remastered version was given a thumbs up, receiving three out of five stars.

LP13's latest album, Arca, is a typical show of how it is progressing from progressive soundscapes to structured melodic tunes.

Electronic Sound Review Issue 118

Ramsgate synth sorcerer LP13 dials up some seemingly interstellar frequencies on 'The Silver Void', an album of unexpected twists and turns towards some unknowable outer realm. Beginning with the fluttering transmissions of the title track, before moving into the slow-motion industrial groans of 'The Aquarian Moth', the motor really gets going as a vortex of metallic-coated notes bursts into action on 'Kaleidoscope Suns'. What really stands out is LP13's unique melodic phrasing, which shifts between choral/dirge-like and dizzyingly multitonal (see 'Magic Pi')in the blink of an eye.

Album of the Year

LP13's spacey odyssey of blips bleeps once more following a fix to the earlier, damaged mix (thanks, seemingly, to some mono fold-downs).
