Kyle A. Darby Sr. is an American lobbyist and political strategist based in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.[1] He is the president and CEO of Darby Public Strategies, a bipartisan government relations and public affairs firm.[2] Darby is also co-founder of the U.S. African Trade Alliance (USATA), a U.S.–Africa trade organization advancing U.S. private sector investment in Africa.[3]
Early life and education
Darby grew up in Atco, NJ. His father was an officer in the military and mother was a paralegal. Darby earned a bachelor of arts in political science from Stockton University, a master of arts in public policy and attended Harvard School of Government's strategic leadership program.[4]
Career
Government relations and political consulting
Darby has worked in government relations roles in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and has been described as having experience with city, state, and federal advocacy.[1] In 2021, Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney announced that Darby joined its government relations group, describing his work representing clients before the Philadelphia City Council, the Pennsylvania General Assembly, and on Capitol Hill.[5]
City & State Pennsylvania’s 2026 "Black Trailblazers" list profiled Darby as leading a Philadelphia-based government relations firm and stated that his firm secured millions in city and state appropriations for clients over multiple budget cycles.[1]
Darby Public Strategies
Darby is listed as president and CEO of Darby Public Strategies (DPS), a bipartisan consulting practice specializing in government relations, business advisory, and political consulting.[2][6]
U.S. African Trade Alliance (USATA)
Darby co-founded USATA in 2024 to support U.S. enterprises engaging in African markets.
USATA works with companies seeking to expand into African markets by providing advisory support, strategic introductions, and guidance related to regulatory environments, political risk mitigation, and project structuring. The organization has positioned itself as a platform for American businesses pursuing opportunities in sectors including infrastructure, energy, manufacturing, agriculture, and technology.
In addition to private-sector advisory work, USATA engages in policy discussions related to U.S.–Africa trade relations and economic development. Its activities include convening business leaders, facilitating partnerships between U.S. and African entities, and publishing commentary on commercial diplomacy and investment trends.[3] [7]
