Kufre is a given name of Ibibio origin from southern Nigeria. It is mainly used as a masculine name, although it may also function as a unisex name. The name is especially common among the Ibibio people s of present-day Akwa Ibom State and Cross River State.[1]
Meaning and origin
In the Ibibio language, Kufre is generally understood to mean "forgetfulness" or "do not forget". It is a diminutive version of names such as:[2]
- Kufre-Abasi - "Do not forget God"
- Kufremfon - "Do not forget my goodness"
