Alade Kolade Tolulope (born 6 August 1994), known professionally as KollyDee, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, composer, and medical doctor. His music blends R&B, soul, Afropop, and Afro-fusion, and he has been described in Nigerian media as one of the country’s notable “singing doctors” who balances medicine and music.[1][2]

Early life and education

KollyDee was born on 6 August 1994 in Nigeria. During secondary school, he joined the school orchestra, where he played violin and served as lead male vocalist.[2]

He began his tertiary education at Covenant University before relocating to Lviv, Ukraine, to study Medicine and Surgery. He has stated that his years abroad helped shape both his musical development and medical training.[3]

Musical career

Early career and breakout

KollyDee first gained public attention in 2015 when his cover of Drake’s “Hotline Bling” went viral online.[2]

In May 2016, he released his debut R&B single, “One More Try”, which received radio and television airplay in Nigeria.[4]

While studying in Ukraine, he performed at the UEFA Euro 2012 Fan Zone Concert in Lviv.[5]

Sinus Rhythm EP (2020)

In November 2020, KollyDee released his debut EP, Sinus Rhythm, a six-track project combining R&B, soul, and Afro-fusion.[6]

The EP includes:

  • “Maria Maria”
  • “Wetin U Do”
  • “Losing My Mind (Olufunmi)”
  • “Stand By You”
  • “Bamidele”
  • Bonus track: “Super God”

The lead single “Maria Maria” received positive attention, and the video was noted for its nostalgic style.[4]

KollyDee described the EP title as a metaphor for emotional balance, comparing it to the medical term “sinus rhythm”.[3]

Independent artistry

KollyDee works independently, writing and recording much of his material himself to maintain creative control.[1]

Musical style

His music combines R&B, soul, and Afro-fusion, characterized by falsetto vocals, harmonies, and emotionally driven lyrics. In interviews, he has expressed a preference for R&B-focused artistry over mainstream Afrobeats trends.[1]

Medical career

KollyDee completed his medical degree in Ukraine, received his medical license in Nigeria, and completed his housemanship at Lagos Island Maternity Hospital before serving under the National Youth Service Corps.[3]

He continues to balance medical practice with his music career.[2]

Recent work

In 2025, he released the Afro-R&B single “Ileke”, which was described by The Guardian Nigeria as a "captivating fusion" and a strong artistic comeback.[7]
