Julia Daphne Beatrice Winter (born March 17, 1993) is a Swedish-born British former child actress known for her only role as Veruca Salt in Tim Burton's 2005 film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. After her debut in the film, Winter chose not to pursue a professional acting career and has since maintained a private life.

Julia Daphne Beatrice Winter was born on March 17, 1993, in Stockholm, Sweden, to Swedish parents. She moved to London, England, at a young age, where she spent much of her childhood. Winter is fluent in both Swedish and English and has two younger siblings, a brother and a sister.

She attended the Sigtunaskolan Humanistiska Läroverket, a boarding school in Sigtuna, Sweden, where she gained early acting experience through a school theater group.

At age 12, Winter was cast as Veruca Salt in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005), directed by Tim Burton and based on Roald Dahl's 1964 novel. Winter was discovered through an open casting call in London. Winter also voiced her character in the video game adaptation. In the 2005 documentary feature, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: Different Faces, Different Flavors, she revealed that she based her performance on her younger sister's behaviour rather than her own personality.

In addition to her film role, Winter made guest appearances on television programs, including Dick & Dom in da Bungalow, HBO First Look, Becoming Oompa-Loompa, and Attack of the Squirrels!. She also appeared on Good Morning America to discuss her role. Winter provided the Swedish dubbing for her character in the film's Swedish release.

After 2006, Winter retired from professional acting to focus on her education and personal life. She has since maintained a low public profile.

Winter resides in Nacka, Sweden, and is reportedly studying medicine at the Karolinska Institute, pursuing a career as a doctor. Winter has remained close with her co-star AnnaSophia Robb, who played Violet Beauregarde.
