Jackson Hoang Vinh Ho (born January 17, 1991) is a Canadian entrepreneur who also worked for the Canadian French language educational television channel TFO (Télévision française de l'Ontario), a Crown corporation owned by the Government of Ontario. He is a candidate for the 2026 Toronto municipal election, running for Ward 14 Toronto—Danforth.
Early life and career
Jackson Ho was born on January 17, 1991, in Montreal, Quebec. He is the son of Vietnamese refugees who arrived in Canada as part of the Vietnamese boat people following the fall of Saigon in 1975. His father was born in Vietnam, while his mother is of Chinese-Vietnamese heritage. The family initially settled in Sherbrooke, Quebec, before relocating to Montreal, where his parents operated a floral business in the Côte-des-Neiges neighbourhood. In 2001, the family moved to Toronto, Ontario, where they established a dry-cleaning business.
Ho is trilingual, speaking French, English, and Vietnamese. After moving to Toronto at the age of 11, he attended École élémentaire Félix-Leclerc in Etobicoke and later graduated from École secondaire Jeunes sans frontières in Brampton.
After graduating from high school, Ho was admitted to the University of Ottawa to study computer engineering. He later changed his field of study and pursued theatre at the same institution. During his second year, he received a jury-selected scholarship that enabled him to enroll in the Television and Film Production program at Collège La Cité in Ottawa.
Before beginning his post-secondary studies, Ho founded a media production company. Following his graduation from Collège La Cité, he joined TFO, Ontario's French-language public educational broadcaster, where he worked in a variety of production and technical roles, including camera operation, directing, editing, drone operator and studio production.
During his career in broadcasting, Ho has contributed to the production and coverage of interviews, public affairs programming, and events involving numerous political and public figures. Among those he has worked with are former Prime Minister of Canada Paul Martin, former Premier of Ontario Kathleen Wynne, Premier of Ontario Doug Ford, former Mayor of Toronto John Tory, former Ontario's Minister of Francophone Affairs, Caroline Mulroney, former Premier of Prince Edward Island Wade MacLauchlan, and even former Prime Minister of Niger Brigi Rafini.
2026 Toronto municipal election
Ho is a candidate for Toronto City Council in Ward 14 (Toronto–Danforth).
Prior to entering municipal politics, Ho worked in roles that brought him into contact with communities across Canada and internationally. He has stated that these experiences exposed him to a wide range of community issues, challenges, and perspectives, which influenced his decision to seek public office. Ho has cited government spending, municipal services, housing affordability, and long-term urban planning as key areas of interest in his campaign.
Ho chose to run in Ward 14 because he lives in and has spent significant time in the area. His campaign platform emphasizes affordable housing, increased community engagement, and greater municipal autonomy in areas where city policies are affected by provincial decisions. He has also advocated for improvements to Toronto's cycling infrastructure, supporting the expansion of bike lanes while seeking designs that minimize impacts on traffic flow and local transportation networks.
Ho has proposed holding quarterly town hall meetings to provide residents with opportunities to discuss local issues and communicate directly with their elected representatives.
Personal life
Outside of his professional activities, Ho maintains a diverse range of interests spanning outdoor recreation, skilled trades, and travel. He participates in running, cycling, swimming, longboarding, rock climbing, and golf. He has restored and lived aboard a yacht and has travelled the Trans-America Trail by adventure motorcycle.
His hobbies also include sewing, carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, automotive mechanics, and computer building. Ho is a student pilot, skydiver, traveler, bargain hunter, and self-described bubble tea connoisseur.
