Imo Enang

Imo Enang is a Nigerian–British academic and strategic consultant. He works in higher education and professional practice, with interests in organisational strategy, digital transformation, financial technology, and the application of artificial intelligence in business contexts. He is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Roehampton Business School and serves as Professional Partnerships Lead at the same institution.[1] He is also Chair of the Marketing Special Interest Group at the Academy of African Studies.[2]

Biography

Enang works across academia and industry. His academic work includes research on organisational ambidexterity, digital strategy, and applied artificial intelligence in business decision-making.[3] His doctoral research at Warwick Business School examined how organisations manage the tension between innovation and operational efficiency through strategy and organisational design.[4] This research contributed to the development of the Dynamic Network Alignment (DNA) framework, a strategic approach to balancing exploration and exploitation within organisations. In addition to his academic work, Enang has undertaken consulting and strategic roles in organisations operating in the financial services and consumer goods sectors. His professional experience includes work related to digital transformation and market development in the Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Enang is the founder of Ambidexters Inc., a technology and consulting company focused on organisational strategy and decision-support systems.[5] He also founded SkillHubs Inc., which provides executive education and professional development programmes across Europe and the Middle East.[6] He later founded ImpactCity, a professional development platform focused on peer learning, mentoring, and career development through community-based engagement.[7]

Early life and education

Enang earned a Bachelor’s degree in Building with a specialisation in Quantity Surveying from the University of Lagos.[8] He later completed a Master of Business Administration at IE Business School in Madrid.[9] He was awarded a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) in Strategy by Warwick Business School in 2023.[10] As of 2025, he is undertaking doctoral studies in Data Science at Florida Atlantic University.[11]

Academic career

Enang joined the University of Roehampton Business School in 2022 as a Senior Lecturer.[12] He teaches on postgraduate programmes including MSc Project Management and MBA courses. In 2024, he was appointed Professional Partnerships Lead, a role involving industry engagement and collaboration with professional bodies.

Beyond Roehampton, Enang serves as an External Examiner for the MSc Business Consulting programme at the University of Aberdeen Business School.[13] He is a Visiting Professor in Management Technology at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David and a Visiting Lecturer in Marketing and Strategy at Queen Mary University of London.[14][15] He previously taught at Lancaster University Management School, where he contributed to the Corporate Strategy module.[16]

Enang serves as Chair of the Marketing Special Interest Group at the Academy of African Studies.[23] He is Vice President for Emerging Markets at Marcel Advisory.[24] He also contributes as a Professional Training Consultant to the UK government-backed Help to Grow programme [25]

Awards and Recognition

Enang received the UK Global Talent Award from the British Academy in 2025.[26]

He was listed in the MIPAD Top 100 Under 40 in 2023 under the Business and Entrepreneurship category.[27]

He also received the UAE “Executive Director – Special Talent” recognition in 2023.[28]
