IPETH
The Professional Institute in Therapies and Humanities (IPETH, its spanish acronym) is a private university with campuses in Mexico and Guatemala, specializing in academic programs in the health sciences.
IPETH is currently part of Galileo Global Education[1], a higher education group headquartered in France. Other universities within this network include Regent's University de Londres, Paris School of Business, European University Cyprus and PFH Private University of Applied Sciences.
History
IPETH was founded on October 27, 2006, by Alejandro Cuervo, with the aim of providing professional education focused on physiotherapy. Its first campus began operations in 2007 in Puebla, Mexico. In 2009, the institution moved to southern Puebla, where its current Mexican headquarters is located.
In 2013, IPETH opened a campus in Guatemala in partnership with Universidad Galileo[2], as well as a campus in Tlalpan, Mexico City. Its fourth campus was inaugurated in 2017 in Tlalnepantla, State of Mexico, followed by a campus in Zapopan, Jalisco, in 2019.
In 2021, IPETH was acquired by Galileo Global Education, a french education group that describes itself as one of the most prominent in Europe.
In 2022, the Mexican government, through the Secretariat of Economy, published a report on IPETH[3] indicating a disparity in the number of graduates, reporting 197 men and 443 women.
Programs and Accreditation
IPETH offers undergraduate degrees in Physiotherapy, Nursing, Sports Science, and Dentistry[4]. At the graduate level, the university offers master’s degrees in Sports Physiotherapy, Neurological Physiotherapy, Digital Health, Public Health Management and Innovation, Manual Therapy and Pain Management, Health Management and Entrepreneurship, and Educational Technology and Pedagogical Innovation in Health, in addition to a doctoral program in Teaching, Research, and Health Management.
In Mexico, IPETH’s undergraduate programs follow a four-month academic term structure and hold official recognition of validity of studies (Reconocimiento de Validez Oficial de Estudios, RVOE) granted by the Mexican Secretariat of Public Education (SEP, its spanish acronym). The programs are also registered with the Interinstitutional Commission for Human Resources Training in Health (CIFRHS, its spanish acronym), the body responsible for coordinating collaboration between the education and health sectors in Mexico.
