The International Conference on Advances in Solidification Processes (ICASP) is an academic conference series started in 2005 based on the initiative of Prof. Hasse Fredriksson from KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. It covers all aspects of research and applications related to solidification, for researchers and engineers from academia and industry to exchange on recent advances and to discuss outstanding challenges in the field. Topics of interest include, but are not restricted to

  • Casting, welding, additive manufacturing, remelting processes, ...
  • Microstructure formation & evolution in solidification processes
  • Thermodynamics & kinetics of solidification & phase transformations
  • Dendritic, eutectic, peritectic, monotectic growth, ...
  • Nucleation and grain refinement
  • Heat & mass transfer (fluid flow, solute transport, ...)
  • Thermomechanics (stresses, deformations, ...)
  • Defects (hot tearing, shrinkage, porosity, segregation, ...)
  • Experimental & characterization methods (e.g. in situ, operando)
  • Theory, modeling and simulation methods across scales
  • Thermophysical properties measurements & calculations
  • Physics, chemistry, thermodynamics & kinetics of interfaces
  • Rapid solidification and non-equilibrium effects
  • Liquid metal processing: dealloying, melting, ...

The conference series is organized by one or two chairs and supported by an International Scientific Committee, which consists of experts in the field from several countries. At the conference meeting, the committee selects the next chair and new members.
