Henry Vann is a British Liberal Democrat politician[1] and local councillor in Bedford, England. He has served on Bedford Borough Council[2] since 2011 and is the Liberal Democrat candidate for Mayor of Bedford[3] in the 2027 election.
Early life and education
Henry Vann was born in 1986 at North Wing Hospital in Bedford, Bedfordshire. He was raised in Bedford and attended local schools before studying at the University of Cambridge.[citation needed]
Political career
Vann was first elected to Bedford Borough Council in 2011.[citation needed] Over the years, he has held several key roles within the council, including:

In May 2023, following the election of a Conservative mayor by a narrow margin of 145 votes, Vann was elected leader of the Liberal Democrat Group on Bedford Borough Council.[citation needed] He succeeded former mayor Dave Hodgson in leading the opposition and pledged to defend local services and challenge what he described as “uncosted promises” from the new Conservative administration.[citation needed]
Parliamentary candidacies
