Henrybuilt is an American design and manufacturing company specializing in kitchens and integrated home systems. The company is headquartered in Seattle, Washington, with design studios in New York City, Los Angeles, and Mill Valley, California, and projects in the United States and internationally.
History
Henrybuilt was founded in 2001 on Vashon Island, Washington, by Scott Hudson.[1] The company, named after Hudson’s grandfather, Henry, initially focused on kitchen design. Henrybuilt later expanded its scope to include other areas of the home. The company has won a number of industry awards over the past two decades.
Design approach
Henrybuilt develops kitchens as coordinated systems rather than as individual cabinetry components, focused on combining craft with functional innovation. Its approach emphasizes integrating cooking, cleaning, storage, and social functions within a unified architectural framework.[2] Over time, this systems-based methodology has been extended to wardrobes, bathrooms, and other living spaces.[3]
Henrybuilt has integrated its approach in several notable projects, working with high-profile clients like Ivy Ross[4], Bobby Flay[5], Urs Fischer[6], Jacquelyn Jablonski[7], and George Clooney.
They have also partnered or worked with renowned architects and architectural firms like Greg Faulkner, Aidlin Darling and Morris Adjmi.[8][9][10]
Henrybuilt created a second line, Space Theory, in 2019, focused on creating a simplified version of the Henrybuilt kitchen system with a streamlined design and manufacturing process.[11]
The two lines were moved under one roof in 2024 when HenryBuilt relocated to DUMBO, Brooklyn after nearly 20 years in the SOHO neighborhood of Manhattan.[12]
