Harmonic Security is a cybersecurity company that develops tools intended to secure enterprise use of generative AI and AI-enabled software.[1]
History
Harmonic Security was founded in 2023.[2] SecurityWeek described the company as the brainchild of Alastair Paterson, who previously led Digital Shadows, which it reported was acquired by ReliaQuest/KKR.[1]
In October 2023, Harmonic Security raised $7 million in seed-stage funding.[1]
Products and technology
An AWS Machine Learning Blog post described Harmonic Security as providing an “AI governance and control layer” designed to detect sensitive data as employees use third-party generative AI tools, and detailed model fine-tuning work aimed at reducing detection latency and maintaining accuracy across data types.[3]
Dark Reading reported on a deployment by Advisor360, describing use of Harmonic Security’s product to identify “shadow AI,” enforce policy, and coach users, and stating that Advisor360 deployed the product in 2024.[4]
Recognition
RSA Conference listed Harmonic Security among the Top 10 finalists for the RSAC Innovation Sandbox Contest 2024.[5]
Industry context
The UK Government’s Cyber security sectoral analysis 2025 described a small group of firms focused on cybersecurity for AI and listed Harmonic Security as an example of a firm with dual UK-US positioning, noting it was founded in 2023.[2]
