The Humanistic and Social Informatics Laboratory (HILab; Greek: Εργαστήριο Πληροφορικής στις Ανθρωπιστικές και Κοινωνικές Επιστήμες) is a research laboratory of the Ionian University, based in Corfu, Greece. It operates within the Department of Informatics and focuses on interdisciplinary research at the intersection of computer science, humanities, and social sciences.[1]
History
The laboratory was formally established in 2019 as part of the Department of Informatics at Ionian University. It builds upon earlier research activity in humanistic computing and interdisciplinary informatics conducted within the university.[2]
Research
HILab conducts research in a wide range of areas, including:
- Cultural informatics and digital heritage
- Computational linguistics and natural language processing
- Multimedia systems and digital media technologies
- Virtual and augmented reality
- Image processing and computer vision
- Knowledge representation and semantic web technologies
- Artificial intelligence and machine learning
