Ghost Battalion is a mexican Heavy Metal, Power Metal and Progressive Metal project formed in May, 2017 in Michoacan, Mexico by multi-instrumentalist Axel Pardavé. The project was originally founded as a full band with 5 members, although due to musical differences and other issues all the members parted ways, after this the band became as a solo project lead by its founder.
The project was named after stories about Residual Hauntings where many battles took place during World War I. In these stories some people claim they can hear the screams, gunshots, chivalry charges and many more sounds of this nature.
Musical style
Ghost Battalion's lyrics often feature different topics about fantasy, such as the work from J.R.R Tolkien in The Lord of the Rings as can be seen in their first ever single "Mount Doom". Another recurrent topic is metaphysical themes inspired by the Stone Tape theory, as can be seen on songs like "Unkown Soldier", "This War" and "Ghost Battalion" which also feature the cold reality of what soldiers had to go through in the battlefield during WWI. Some lyrics also feature mental disorders and reflect human conditions in songs like "Alone in the Dark", "Afraid to Live" or "Burning Souls" which are a metaphor of depression and anxiety, or "Shell Shock" which narrates a story from the perspective of a war veteran who suffers Post-traumatic stress disorder.
Ghost Battalion's music is influenced mainly in power metal bands such as Edguy, Masterplan, Avantasia and Sonata Arctica. Although other influences are in other subgenres like Progressive Metal, Thrash Metal and Death Metal as can be heard in some of their songs.
