Francisca Salgado (born 8 January 2009 in Lisbon, Portugal) is a Portuguese amateur golfer and member of the Portuguese National Team.[1] She competes in national and international amateur events across Europe and is tracked in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR).[2]

Early life and education

Francisca Salgado was born in Lisbon to Pedro Salgado and Carla Orfão. She began playing golf at age seven at the National Golf Center of Jamor. From ages nine to twelve she trained at Clube de Golfe do Paço do Lumiar, returning to Jamor at age thirteen while also training at Quinta do Peru Golf & Country Club. She studies Social and Economic Sciences at Escola Secundária Fonseca Benevides in Lisbon.

Amateur career

Francisca began competing in national youth events at an early age, winning the 2019 Portuguese U10 Championship and finishing runner-up the previous year.[3] She won the national U12 title in 2021.[4] She also won both the Under-14 and Absolute titles at the Extremadura Championship in 2022.[5]

Internationally, Francisca represented Portugal at the Evian Junior Cup (France) and the Belgian International U14 Championship in 2022, finishing sixth individually and helping Portugal to eighth overall.[6]

Francisca later represented Portugal at the European Young Masters in both 2023 and 2024.[7][8]

In February 2024, she represented Portugal at the International Hexagonal Women's Match at Costa Ballena Ocean Golf Club, Spain.[9] In 2025, she was selected for the Portuguese team at the Ladies European Team Championship in France.[10]

She played her first professional-tour event that same season at the LET Access Series Super Bock Ladies Open in Vidago, Portugal, where she was also interviewed during the tournament.[11][12]

In December 2025, she finished third at the VIII Memorial Célia Barquín Arozamena – Copa Principado de Asturias Femenina, a World Amateur Golf Ranking–sanctioned event.[13]

Domestically, Francisca won the GJG Algarve Juniors International in 2024[14] and finished runner-up at the Portuguese Golf Federation Cup – BPI in 2025.[15] She also topped the 2024 Portuguese Golf Federation Circuit and placed second in the BPI Ranking.[16]

Training and coaching

Francisca's performance team includes coaches Luís Barroso and Tiago Bonaparte, strength-and-conditioning coach Ana Monteiro, mental coach Luís Almeida and nutritionist Teresa São Marcos. She trains mainly at the National Golf Center of Jamor, Praia d'El Rey Golf & Beach Resort and Quinta do Peru Golf & Country Club.
