Comment: Draft is about a living person with sensitive claims while sources exist most focus on arrests rather than sustained notability in journalism. CONFUSED SPIRIT(Thilio).Talk 12:18, 9 December 2025 (UTC)
Fejiro Oliver, born Tega Oghenedoro, is a Nigerian investigative journalist, blogger, and social activist known for reporting on corruption, human rights abuses, and governance issues. He is the publisher of the online news platform Secret Reporters, which focuses on exposing alleged misconduct by government officials and corporate entities.[1][2]
Career and Family
Oliver was born to an Urhobo family and began his journalism career in the early 2010s, initially contributing to various online outlets before establishing Secret Reporters in 2014. His work often involves undercover reporting and whistleblower-sourced material, covering topics such as electoral malpractices, oil theft, and police brutality. He has collaborated with international media outlets and advocacy groups, including the Committee to Protect Journalists, which has documented his encounters with authorities.[2]
Oliver has faced multiple legal challenges related to his reporting. In February 2020, he was charged with five counts under Nigeria's Cybercrimes Act for articles published in 2017 alleging corruption in the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation. In October 2025, he was remanded in Ogwashi-Uku prison in Delta State after comments criticizing Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, marking his latest arrest amid ongoing tensions with state actors. He spent 61 day in prison before he was released following calls from with several persons and bodies like Center for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID), making him one of the notable investigative journalists in Nigeria.[3][4][5][6]
As of 2025, Oliver continues to operate Secret Reporters from Abuja, maintaining an active presence on social media where he shares updates on his legal battles and investigative findings. He describes himself as a "prisoner of conscience" dedicated to anti-corruption activism.[1]
