Evette Pabalan-Onayan (born December 31, 1983), also known by her aliases Sexbomb Diva and Songbird, is a Filipina singer, dancer, and actress. She is best known as an original member and the main vocalist of the SexBomb Girls, a highly successful Filipino girl group that achieved widespread commercial and cultural prominence in the 2000s.
Early life
Evette Pabalan was born on December 31, 1983. She was named "Evette" in reference to the fact that she was born on New Year's Eve.[1] Pabalan was raised by her single mother, Audrey Moralde. Throughout her childhood, she frequently joined and competed in various local singing contests, which helped develop her vocal talent and stage presence from a young age.
Career
Discovery and SexBomb Girls
Pabalan was initially discovered after winning the championship title on "Ikaw at Echo," a popular talent segment on the long-running noontime variety show Eat Bulaga!, where she initially performed under her first stage name, Emily Venus. Her singing and impersonation skills on the show ultimately put her on the map. This victory paved the way for her to rise to national prominence as a core member of the SexBomb Girls, where she was known as one of the standout singers in a group heavily focused on dance. As part of the group, she initially performed as a regular dancer on Eat Bulaga! before the group transitioned into a highly successful recording and acting act.
As the main vocalist, she contributed to several of the group's multi-platinum studio albums, which solidified the SexBomb Girls as one of the best-selling girl groups in the Philippines and Asia prior to the contemporary wave of P-pop and K-pop. Notably, Pabalan provided the lead vocals for the emotional ballad "Tahanan," featured on the group's 2006 album Daisy Siete: V-Day. In 2009, Pabalan further showcased her vocal prowess on an international stage by joining and representing the Philippines at the WCOPA (World Championships of Performing Arts).[2] Her journey was later immortalized in a 2005 episode of Magpakailanman titled "The Evette Sexbomb Pabalan Story".[3]
Alongside her music career, Pabalan showcased her acting abilities in Daisy Siete, a popular and long-running afternoon television drama series produced by GMA Network that starred the members of the SexBomb Girls.[3]
Life Outside SexBomb
After stepping back from mainstream entertainment, Pabalan transitioned her career focus and eventually relocated to Canada. Outside of the entertainment industry, she entered the financial services sector and is currently a licensed mortgage advisor.
Despite building her professional life abroad, she has remained closely connected to her SexBomb roots. She notably returned to the Philippines, temporarily leaving her job in Canada, to participate in the first five iterations ("Rawnd 1 to 5") of the group's highly anticipated Get Get Aw! reunion concerts.
In late April 2026, Pabalan announced via social media that she would unfortunately have to sit out the tour's grand finale concert, The Last Rawnd, held on April 30 at the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena. She cited the need to prioritize her family and the future she was building in Canada, expressing her heartbreak over missing the finale but offering her full support and love to her fellow group members from afar.
Personal life
Evette Pabalan is married to filmmaker and photographer Ross Onayan. The family currently resides in Calgary, Canada, where the couple actively collaborates on local productions and digital campaigns. Together, she and her husband have two daughters, Jezreel and Jeriel Onayan.
Fandom and legacy
Her enduring popularity has cultivated a highly organized and dedicated solo fan community known as the Y Hives. [4]The group actively preserves her legacy by organizing fan gatherings, community team-building events, drafting newsletters, and designing dedicated merchandise to celebrate her lasting influence in the entertainment industry.
