ELO Digital Office GmbH is a German enterprise content management software company headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany.[1][2] As of 2025, the company is led by CEO Nils Mosbach.[3][4][5]

History

ELO Digital Office was founded in 1998, emerging from a product division created by the Leitz group to handle electronic filing and archiving.[6] The first product from this division was called the elektronischer Leitzordner (Electronic Leitz Organizer) and launched in 1996. The product's initials would later become part of the brand’s name. After Leitz group's acquisition by Swedish company Esselte, the division was spun off as an independent company in 1998 under the leadership of Karl Heinz Mosbach and Matthias Thiele.[6]

Through the 2000s, the company opened offices in Gera (2000); Dortmund, Prague, and Jakarta (2004); Wallisellen and Sydney (2005); Linz and Ghent (2006); Budapest and Bucharest (2008); and Gorzów Wielkopolski (2009).[6][1] In 2004, the company released ELOenterprise, a modular multi-tenant platform.[6][7][8] ELO entered the French market in 2012, founding ELO Digital Office FR S.a.r.l. in Paris, and opened offices in Milan and Chișinău in 2013.[6]

In 2016, ELO Digital Office Corporation was established in Boston.[6] ELO Business Solutions launched that same year with three department-specific modules: ELO Invoice, ELO Contract, and ELO Public Sector.[6] ELO Knowledge was released in 2017, followed by two HR modules: ELO Personnel File and ELO Recruiting in 2018, and ELO Learning in 2020.[6] The company opened a Saarbrücken branch in 2020, launched ELO Digital Office SA in Johannesburg a year later,[9] and added an office in Barcelona, ELO Digital Office España, in 2024.[6][1]

Products and technology

ELO Digital Office develops the ELO ECM Suite, a platform for document management, records management, business process automation, and compliance archiving.[10][11][12] The suite includes a low-code development environment for workflow design,[13] an AI assistant for document analysis and information retrieval,[11] and an OCR module for handling document classification and data extraction.[11][14] It can be deployed on-premises, in the cloud, or in hybrid configurations.[10]

In March 2026, ELO launched the ELO Marketplace, an online platform for partner-developed solutions for the ELO ECM Suite, at the company's ELO Horizons conference in Stuttgart.[15]

Integrations

ELO software connects to external systems through REST and SOAP APIs via a component called ELO Indexserver.[16][17] The platform also includes an XML import module for one-way data ingestion from third-party applications, and an ELO Transport function for importing and exporting documents and data as zipped JSON objects.[17] Named integrations are available for SAP (including SAP S/4HANA, SAP Business One, and SAP NetWeaver),[18] Microsoft (SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft 365, and Microsoft Dynamics),[19][20] Salesforce,[21] abas, CAS, and DocuSign.[22]
