Donna Forbin is a Cameroonian born writer, poet and civic leader. She is a prominent figure in the English-language literary community of Cameroon and the former president of the Junior Chamber International (JCI) chapter in Limbe..[1]
Literary career
Forbin's literary work primarily focuses on poetry, public performance, and contemporary Cameroonian literature. During the Limbe Festival of Arts and Culture (FESTAC)[2], she delivered a 10-minute historical poem documenting the pre-colonial history, founding, and modern evolution of Victoria (now Limbe). She is a frequent contributor to national literary events, including annual World Poetry Day observances[3]
In addition to her writing, Forbin serves as a curator and literary evaluator —as an official judge for the Bakwa Magazine Short Story Competition, serving on the adjudication panel alongside academic and literary scholar Madhu Krishnan. Her publications are frequently analyzed within academic and cultural surveys of contemporary Anglophone Cameroonian literature, alongside contemporary writers such as Joyce Ashuntantang.[4]
Civil society and leadership
Forbin has been involved in community development and international network organizations in the South West Region of Cameroon. She served as the Chapter President of Junior Chamber International (JCI) Limbe. Her executive tenure concluded in December 2008, following the election of her successor, Royen Namondo Ngale.[1]
Personal life
Forbin is based in Limbe[5], a coastal city in the South West Region of Cameroon, where the majority of her cultural and civic initiatives are centered.
