David Neidorf (born November 24, 1962) is an American actor best known for his roles in the 1986 sports drama Hoosiers and war film Platoon.
Early life
David Neidorf was born on November 24, 1962, in Los Angeles, California, United States.[1]
Career
Neidorf's first credited film role was in the 1986 sports drama Hoosiers, in which he portrayed Everett Flatch. In a 2022 podcast interview, Neidorf recalled that he had recently signed with an agent and had been auditioning for approximately six months before being cast through the standard audition process. He noted that he was the only trained actor among the basketball players and did not have a competitive basketball background.[2] Several years later, he stated in a separate podcast that he had been cast in a small role in Ferris Bueller's Day Off but withdrew in favor of Hoosiers, which required a significantly longer production commitment.[3]
Later in 1986, Neidorf appeared as Tex in Oliver Stone's Vietnam War film Platoon, which was produced by the same company as Hoosiers. He described this as his second film role and later reflected on working with Stone and the ensemble cast in interviews.[2]
In 1987, Neidorf starred in Under Cover, which he described as his first leading role. Reflecting on the experience in later interviews, he characterized it as an important professional milestone and noted that it provided perspective on the demands of carrying a film as a lead actor at that stage of his career.[2]
Neidorf continued to appear in supporting roles in film and television through the early 1990s, including Empire of the Sun (1987), Bull Durham (1988), and several made-for-television films. He stated that his final acting project was In the Line of Duty: Kidnapped, after which he chose to step away from acting in the mid-1990s.[2]
Neidorf elaborated on his decision to leave acting in a 2025 podcast, explaining that he did not enjoy the hierarchical structure of film production and preferred greater personal autonomy, which contributed to his decision to pursue a different career path. He later transitioned into business and has operated a property management company since 2009.[3]

In the home's design process, Pauline Lyders served as the architect and Neidorf consulted on the project; he operates his property management business, Full House Consulting, Inc., from an office within the residence.[4]

According to a profile in a regional sports publication, his eldest daughter, Casey, resides in Los Angeles, while the couple's two younger daughters, Adin and Stella, live with them in Bend.
