The band's old name used to be "Jak rozpętałem freaky wojnę światową" ("how i started a freaky world war") but the original title is "Jak rozpętałem II wojnę światową" (How I Unleashed World War II) but now changed to "Dark Rain". The band currently consists of rhythm guitarist and vocalist Alasteon and bassist and unclean vocalist Noctabble.
History
2022-2024: Formation as rock and metal band
Dark Rain was formed in 2022 in Passaic, New Jersey by friends who were otakus. Alasteon and Finnsvpy. The both of them met on Steam in 2020, due to the pandemic happening. Somewhere around the fall, Alasteon started to make a band with Finnsvpy, because they wanted to do something not boring basically. He made Finnsvpy play drums because Alasteon viewed him as the perfect drummer and looks like he listens to the same music taste as him.
In 2024, the duo had no idea what to do with their band because they didn't have any friends who would be part of the band. Alasteon recruited his best friend from his high school to play and learn bass Noctabble & second, he brought nicolasbrehm to be the lead guitarist in the band.
nicolasbrehm's departure and lineup instability (2025–2025)
In 2025, nicolasbrehm wasn't progressing musically with the band and had to be replaced with Alasteon's twin brother Itachippi and took his place as lead guitar. nicolasbrehm left the band due to creative differences and finding the band "immature", leaving Alasteon, Itachippi, Noctabble & Finnsvpy as the remaining members and would continue on as a 4-piece band without nicolasbrehm. Continuing as a 4-piece band, Alasteon, Itachippi, Noctabble & Finnsvpy did not know what to do, even Alasteon was stressed out and couldn't find anyone to join his band but he didn't give up.
Introduction of kxora, Shot in the Heart, and sequel album stories (2025–2025)
kxora had drawn the attention of Alasteon, with Alasteon stating that "it had to be kxora" for whom he was praised for his much greater vocal range and since he was inspired by Dickie Allen & Tom Barber. He agreed to join the band due to his amazing unclean vocals. Alasteon felt that kxora's introduction to the band was "the right choice to make", adding that [I think kxora is] an incredibly talented vocalist, from the multiple wide range of screams that Dark Rain obviously needs and will continue to have, and his singing and range is out of this world.
Alasteon & kxora announced that they were producing a 3 sequel albums, which was to be released in December and different months.
Return of nicolasbrehm, and departure of Finnsvpy and nicolasbrehm (2025–2026)
In 2025, nicolasbrehm confirmed his return for the band.
In 2026, Dark Rain went through yet another lineup change with Finnsvpy and nicolasbrehm leaving the band due to internal conflicts but also no official announcement had yet been made by the band and no reason was given for their departures.
On Finnsvpy's departure from the band:
| “ | The dudes parted ways with me. I'd never just give up and leave Dark Rain, I feel like they thought it was their time to move away from me, so they told me to leave.. | ” |
On January 2, 2026, Alasteon announced their departures leaving the band on Instagram.
| “ | It's sad to announce this but here we fuckin' go. Finnsvpy has been with us since the beginning and will always be someone I care about deeply. Unfortunately though, there's many things I could say, but they are rather personal and I don't think they need to be discussed here. This band is and always will be about making music with my friends. We don't give a fuck about fame or money or anything. It's about doing what we love together as a family. We aren't breaking up and we aren't changing our name. As long as we are making music we are proud of and having fun together, this band will continue to exist.
We wish Finnsvpy nothing but the best in everything he does. The vibe needed to be creative together was just gone. It happens, it's sad and all, but that's just life. That's how life is and it isn't going to change. We appreciate everyone who has stuck by this bands side through all these years. If this upsets you so greatly that you feel you can't listen to us anymore, that's ok and we understand. It is never easy and always incites drama, but sometimes you have to make really hard decisions. It's part of being an adult. I'm 18 now and it sucks. |

On January 21, 2026, Clean vocalist and rhythm guitarist Alasteon announced that there would be a new drummer and new guitarist. HauntedKissez was revealed as the new drummer, and 2natollis was revealed as the new guitarist, one of Alasteon's best and favorite friends, thinking that they might be the perfect one for his band and thinking the two of them will be progressing musically well with the band.
