Daniel Elliot Foxx is a British comedian and writer. He is known for his stand-up comedy, writing for stage and radio, and for online sketch comedy that has received coverage in national media. His work frequently uses character‑driven satire and explores themes of class, identity, and contemporary relationships.[1][2]

Career

Foxx began performing stand-up comedy while studying at university. He attended King's College London.[1][3]

He started to make comedy content online in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, and has since acquired a significant social media following.[4][5] As of April 2026 he has over 750,000 followers.[6][7]

Stand‑up comedy

Foxx's debut stand‑up hour, Villain, premiered at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2023. The show received positive reviews from multiple publications, including The Guardian, The Scotsman, and Chortle.[8][9][10]

Villain was named one of Rolling Stone UK’s stand‑out shows of the festival.[11]

Following its Fringe run, the show toured in the United Kingdom and internationally.[12]

Foxx's second stand-up show, How Lovely, began touring in 2026. Reviews described the show as continuing his interest in autobiographical material, focusing on dating and personal change.[13][14]

Writing and musical theatre

Foxx co‑wrote the book and lyrics for the musical Unfortunate: The Untold Story of Ursula The Sea Witch. The musical premiered at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and was later revived in 2022. Theatre publications discussed the production for its satirical reinterpretation of the character Ursula.[15] Unfortunate later toured the UK, and returned to London for an 8-week run at the Off West End The Other Palace Theatre in February 2026.[16]

In 2020, Foxx and co‑writer Robyn Grant received a nomination for Best Musical Theatre Bookwriting at the Writers' Guild of Great Britain Awards for their work on Unfortunate. [17]

Books

Foxx's debut comedy book, Bedtime Stories for Privileged Children, was published in September 2024.[18] The book parodies the conventions of traditional children's literature and is based on his online sketch series of the same name.[19]

Foxx’s follow-up comedy book, Fairytales for Privileged Children, is scheduled for publication on 24 September 2026.[20][21]

Radio and podcasting

From 2024 to 2025, Foxx wrote and starred in the BBC Radio 4 sketch series POV.[22]

He also co‑hosts the podcast Welcome to Hell with comedian Dane Buckley. The podcast has released multiple series and has been performed live at comedy festivals, including the Glasgow International Comedy Festival.[23][24]

Personal life

Foxx has spoken in interviews about experiencing homophobic bullying during childhood and about coming out as gay at an early age. These experiences informed the material of his debut show Villain.[3][25]

He has also discussed drawing on personal experiences such as relationship breakdowns and online dating as material for his later work, particularly How Lovely.[14][26]

In interviews, Foxx has stated that he lives in London with his dog, Paddy.[3]

Reception and influence

Foxx's work has been reviewed by a range of national and specialist publications. Reviews of his live comedy have appeared in The Guardian, Rolling Stone UK, The Scotsman, and Chortle, particularly in relation to his performances at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.[8][11][9]

Critics have commented on Foxx's use of character‑based satire and autobiographical material, noting his recurring focus on class, identity, and contemporary social relationships.[1][2]
