Cross Works (also XW) is a British international architecture, urban design and masterplanning practice based in London, England, with a regional base in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.[1][2] The practice has worked on large-scale planning projects in Central Asia, including the New Tashkent development in Uzbekistan.[3][4]
History
Cross Works was founded in 2020 by architect and urban designer Hakan Agca.[1][5] Trade coverage has described the practice as focusing on large-scale urban and masterplanning projects, including government-led initiatives in Uzbekistan.[6][7]
Work
New Tashkent masterplan
Cross Works was reported to have been selected through an international competition process to develop the masterplan for New Tashkent, a planned expansion of Tashkent, Uzbekistan.[4][6][7] Trade publications described the project area as approximately 25,000 hectares and planned for up to 2.5 million residents.[4][8]
Cross Works is acting as masterplanner and digital lead for the project and reported collaboration with firms including Buro Happold, Gillespies and KPMG Uzbekistan.[9] ArchDaily reported that the practice produced a digital twin platform for the masterplan to support coordination and review.[8]
In 2025, travel and design media reported that the practice issued architectural guidance intended to support a consistent identity for future development in New Tashkent.[10]
