Comment: Discogs and Saving Country Music are not reliable sources. While the Billboard charts and etc could suggest this is notable, more reliable reviews are needed for this to pass the notability threshold in my opinion. Rambley (talk / contribs) 11:26, 5 January 2026 (UTC)
Comment: No reviews in reliable sources here. As stated by PythonCoder, the amount of original research here, such as "The project continued his emphasis on traditional country themes, including romantic commitment, personal identity, and rural life, framed within contemporary country production techniques", indicates that AI was used. Comment: The lack of links and unnecessary verbosity in the track listing and personnel sections lead me to suspect this draft was written by an LLM —pythoncoder (talk | contribs) 01:29, 4 January 2026 (UTC)

Cowboy Like Me is the fifth studio album by American country music artist Cody Johnson, released independently on January 14, 2014. The album was produced by Trent Willmon and features a traditional country sound with fiddle and steel guitar, highlighting a polished sound suitable for radio airplay.[1][2][3]
The album represented a commercial breakthrough for Johnson, becoming his first release to chart on the Billboard 200 and reached the top 10 of the Top Country Albums chart.[4]
Critical reception
A review from Saving Country Music called the album a "mixed bag," acknowledging that while there are some decent songs and an impressive amount of fiddle and steel guitar, it is still very commercial sounding, citing the formulaic, electric guitar-driven song structure and the noticeable usage of auto-tune. However, the review was less critical of Johnson specifically, praising his overall vocal abilities and recognizing that "whether fronting a band, or going out on stage with just an acoustic guitar, Cody Johnson can send hearts stirring with his voice."[5]
Commercial performance
Cowboy Like Me peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and reached No. 33 on the Billboard 200, becoming Johnson’s first album to appear on the latter chart.[6][7][8]
Several tracks from the album later achieved certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). “Dance Her Home” and “Me and My Kind” have been certified Platinum and Multi-Platinum, respectively, while "Never Go Home Again" received a Gold certification.[9]
