Courtney Nichole is an American actress, known for her leading role as Leah on Tyler Perry's Assisted Living.
Early life and education
Nichole grew up in Chicago, Illinois and graduated from Kenwood Academy High School.[1] Growing up, her mother would take her to ETA Creative Arts Foundation which she attributes to her creative side.[1] She acted in her first play at age 11, and also took ballet as a child.[2] She left Chicago at 17 to attend Alabama A&M University in Huntsville, Alabama.[1] She graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with a minor in English language arts.[2]
Career
Nichole began her career as an elementary school teacher. During that time, she was involved in the school's productions and eventually quit teaching to pursue acting full time.[2] Some of her earlier credits include Alicia on the show Not for Nothin’ and Lifetime's Sinister Surrogate.[2] She also had roles in shows such as S.W.A.T. and Snowfall.[1]
In 2020, Nichole was cast as a regular on the first season of Tyler Perry's Assisted Living.[3] She plays the role of Leah, the matriarch of a Chicago family.[1] Nichole has played the role in all six seasons of the show.[4]
Personal life
Nichole is married to actor Jamald Gardner with whom she has one son.[2]
