Christian Mair (* February 3 1958 in Innsbruck) is a German linguist of Austrian origin. Since 1990, he has been a professor of English linguistics at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg.
Background
After receiving his doctorate sub auspiciis praesidentis rei publicae (1985) and his habilitation (1990) at the University of Innsbruck, Mair became professor of English Linguistics in Freiburg in 1990. In 2005, he was appointed an honorary doctor of the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University in Iași. In 2006, he became a part of the German Science and Humanities Council .[1] In 2013, Christian Mair was accepted as a corresponding member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.[2] Since 2014, he has been a full member of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities .[3]
