Draft:Chiefs–Ravens rivalry

The Chiefs–Ravens rivalry is a National Football League (NFL) rivalry between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens. The Chiefs and Ravens have played each other intermittently since the 1990s, but the two teams did not become full-fledged rivals until the 2010s, when they became Super Bowl contenders. The rivalry would reach new heights during the late 2010s and 2020s when both teams, led by quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson for the Chiefs and Ravens respectively, posted winning seasons and several playoff appearances during this time period. In March 2020, NFL.com ranked the Chiefs–Ravens rivalry as the new best rivalry.[1] It was later revealed in September 2020 that the Chiefs–Ravens rivalry between Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes could last for years.[2]

Because they play in different intraconference divisions, the Chiefs in the AFC West and Ravens in the AFC North, they do not play each other every season. Instead, based on the NFL's scheduling formula, the two teams play each other at least once every three seasons, and once every six seasons at each team's home stadium, when the AFC West and AFC North play each other, sometimes more often if the two teams meet in the playoffs or they finish in the same place in their respective divisions.
