The Biggest Little Ultra is the umbrella name for two ultramarathon events held at Sparks Marina in Sparks, Nevada. The races follow different format. The annual Biggest Little Ultra offers multiple distance and timed options, including 50-mile and 100-mile fixed-distance races, as well as 6-hour, 12-hour, 24-hour, and 48-hour fixed-time races. The event was founded and is directed by ultrarunner Todd Leigh.
History The inaugural Biggest Little Ultra was held October 10-12, 2025, at Sparks Marina in Sparks, Nevada.[1][2] The event was created with the goal of bringing more runners and walkers into ultrarunning by offering accessible entry points alongside traditional ultra distances.[3]
The race was mentioned in Ultra Running Magazine's "Ultra Weekend Recap" for October 12, 2025, alongside other notable ultramarathons held that weekend.[4]
A second race, the Sparks Backyard Ultra, was added to the Biggest Little Ultra family of races and is scheduled to debut on June 20, 2026.[3]

Race Director Todd Leigh, the founder and race director of the Biggest Little Ultra, is an experienced ultrarunner with over 80 ultra-distance race finishes recorded in the UltraRunning Magazine database.[7][8] Leigh created the event with an emphasis on inclusivity, stating that the race welcomes both first-time ultrarunners and elite athletes.[3]
Venue The race is held at Sparks Marina, a former gravel quarry that has been converted into a recreational area located at 300 Howard Drive in Sparks, Nevada.[5] The marina is situated minutes from Reno-Tahoe International Airport and features amenities including beaches, a dog park, fishing pier, and a paved walking path around the water.[5] The venue's proximity to hotels and accessibility make it a convenient location for both local and traveling participants.
Charitable Component A portion of race proceeds benefits Liberty Dogs, a nonprofit organization that trains service dogs for disabled veterans.[3]
