Bewitching Romance (Korean: 불혹하는 로맨스) is an upcoming South Korean romance drama television series written by Lee Re, directed by Lee Chang-min [ko], and starring Jung Kyung-ho, Jeon Yeo-been, Choi Dae-hoon, and Kang Mal-geum. The series follows two people in their 40s, numb to life, who find unexpected love. It is scheduled to premiere on ENA in the first half of 2027 and will subsequently be streaming on Genie TV in South Korea.

Synopsis

Cast and characters

A top news anchor, he rose from a middle-class background to achieve academic excellence, scoring perfectly on his college entrance exam, and earning the distinction of youngest anchor in history. In his 40s, he suffers from andropause, causing his self-esteem to plummet.[1]
A news writer known for sensational and gossipy content, earning her the nickname "Ssammai writer". With over a decade in broadcasting, she's driven by ratings. Her short fuse and mental exhaustion leave her little energy for romance, often burning out after half a day with a man.[2]
A reporter at YCB News Bureau. He is loyal and romantic, defending Yi-jun and punishing those who badmouth him out of jealousy. He has been single for four years, abandoned by his wife, divorced, and even undergoing psychiatric counseling, until he meets the love of his life.[3]
A scriptwriter at the YCB News Bureau and Hae-yoon's best friend.[3]

Production

Development

The series was developed under the working title Romance at Forty (불혹하는 로맨스; Bulhokhaneun romaenseu), is written by Lee Re, directed by Lee Chang-min [ko], who previously helmed Cashero (2025) and Agency (2023), and produced by How Pictures.[2][4]

Casting

Jung Kyung-ho and Jeon Yeo-been were cast to lead the series in March 2026.[2] The next month, Choi Dae-hoon and Kang Mal-geum joined the lead cast.[3] By May 2026, Jung, Jeon, Choi, and Kang's appearances as the series leads were officially confirmed.[4]

Release

In May 2026, ENA officially announced that the series will premiere in the first half of 2027 and will subsequently be streaming on Genie TV in South Korea.[4]
