Bassem Marwan Fleifel (born October 19, 1987) is a Lebanese researcher, academic, and historian, born in Beirut.[1] He specializes in Ottoman history and has authored numerous publications in this field. He also contributes to Wikimedia projects through his account (Arabic: باسم) The user with the highest number of edits on The Arabic Wikipedia. On the other slide, he is a sysop on Wikidata and Arabic Wikipedia.

Early life and education
Bassem Marwan Fleifel was born in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, on October 19, 1987. He pursued his education in Beirut, and earned a Licentiate degree in Law from Beirut Arab University in 2010, and obtained his master's and PhD degrees in Modern and Contemporary History from the same University in 2019. He has been working since 2013 at the Namat Jafet Memorial Library at the American University of Beirut.[2][3]
Fleifel republished his master's thesis as a book titled "The Position of the Beirutians on the Revolution Against Sultan Abdul Hamid II 1908–1909", The book was introduced by his master's thesis supervisor, Hassan Hallak, it was published in Beirut in 2018.[4]
Fleifel participated in the memorial service for Abdulrahim Abu-Husayn, which was organized by the American University in December 2022 under the title "Tribute to the Historian Abdulrahim Abu-Husayn"[5] In addition, he delivered a lecture titled "Rise of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church and its protection by the Ottoman Empire".[6] and another one by "The Mongols conversion to Islam and their relationship with the Mashriq" in October of 2023.[7]
Fleifel edited the memoirs of Badia Masabni, and Dar Nelson published the work in early 2024 in Beirut.[8] In January of the same year, he published a book entitled "Al-Shafi fi Sirat Abi al-Ala al-Ma'arri".
Fleifel specializes in Ottoman history and has published numerous studies, articles, and books on various other periods of Islamic history.[2]

- In August 2022, he participated in a documentary about the historian Asad Rustum titled: "Al-Ifham wa Al-Ikram fi Sirat Al-Mu’arrikh Asad Rustum Al-Humam". presented as an interview with Lamia Rustum Shehadeh. The work was published on YouTube.[12]
