Comment: Any sources to back up the other claims made about her life? Additionally, you need secondary sources that actually discuss her in-depth rather than citing a ton of articles that she wrote in order to establish notability. Rambley (talk / contribs) 20:10, 21 January 2026 (UTC)

Barbara Magnoni is an American international development advisor, researcher, and educator specializing in financial inclusion, inclusive insurance, and small business resilience. She is the President of EA Consultants, a New York–based research and advisory firm, and an adjunct professor at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs.
Early Life and Education Barbara Magnoni was born in Italy and immigrated to the United States in 1974. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Spanish from Tufts University in 1990. Following graduation, she lived in Chile for two years, where she gained early exposure to microfinance through applied work in community-based financial initiatives. She later earned a Master of International Affairs from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs.
Early Career and Mentorship In the early 1990s, Magnoni worked with Women’s World Banking, where she interned in 1993 alongside anthropologist Ann Dunham. During this period, she contributed to preparatory research on microfinance for briefing materials ahead of Hillary Clinton’s 1994 visit to China.
While working in Latin America, Magnoni met Nancy Barry, then President of Women’s World Banking. Barry became a long-term professional mentor and supported Magnoni’s transition into commercial finance, encouraging her to gain capital markets experience and providing access to professional networks.
Wall Street Career Magnoni worked as an emerging markets research analyst at Goldman Sachs, Chase Securities, and BBV Securities during the 1990s. Her research focused on Latin American macroeconomics and sovereign debt markets. Research teams she was part of received industry recognition, including top rankings from Institutional Investor.
International Development and Entrepreneurship Magnoni later co-founded Banyan Global, where she helped build its financial sector development practice. In 2006, she founded EA Consultants, which advises development agencies, insurers, and financial institutions globally. She also co-founded Noahui Soluciones in Mexico and Andares Mujeres, a regional network of women professionals in financial inclusion across Latin America.
Teaching, Research, and Publications Magnoni is an adjunct professor at Columbia University and a facilitator for the International Labour Organization’s inclusive insurance programs. She has authored numerous publications on microfinance, microinsurance, health financing, migration, and consumer protection, published by institutions including USAID, the Inter-American Development Bank, CGAP, and UNCDF.
Community Engagement Magnoni lives in Kingston, New York. She is a co-founder of the Hudson Valley Plant Exchange and co-author of the Kingston Wire column “Kingston Connections,” written with Jim Rich.
