April Paulk
April Paulk, is an American entrepreneur, media producer, and justice-impacted advocate based in Georgia. She is professionally known as A.P. Rose and is the founder of A.P. Rose Entertainment LLC and A.P. Rose Enterprises, Inc. She is the creator and executive producer of The Queenables, a reality television series documenting reentry, entrepreneurship, and personal transformation among formerly incarcerated women.[1]
Early life and background
Paulk was born and raised in Douglas, Georgia (Coffee County). She is the youngest of ten children born to Charles and Antoinette Paulk (“Ann”). She is the mother of four children—Jaden, Jerzey, Joshua, and Jordan—and grandmother to her grandson, Jream.
Personal history and advocacy
In 2013, Paulk survived a domestic violence incident in which she was shot in the head in front of her son. The incident later resulted in the deaths of her sister, Brandie Paulk Wilson, and Wilson’s husband, Lee Wilson, before the perpetrator died by suicide. Following her recovery and incarceration, Paulk became an advocate for domestic violence survivors, mental health awareness, and criminal justice reform.
Career and entrepreneurship
Following her release from incarceration in 2023, Paulk founded A.P. Rose Entertainment LLC, a media and production company she conceived during her incarceration. She later established A.P. Rose Enterprises, Inc. as an umbrella organization encompassing media production, entrepreneurship, advocacy, and community-focused initiatives.
Her media work centers on storytelling around reentry and transformation, particularly among justice-impacted women. Through her production company, she developed The Queenables as part of this broader focus.
Paulk is also the founder of Field Labs Diagnostics, a mobile diagnostic services company providing phlebotomy, DNA testing, and drug screening services.
Consulting and community work
Paulk founded Rosebridge Consulting Group LLC, a Georgia-based consulting and advocacy firm providing reentry support, resource navigation, community outreach, and strategic consulting for justice-impacted individuals and organizations.
Additional ventures
Paulk launched Convict Beauty, a cosmetics brand developed as part of her post-incarceration entrepreneurial work. The brand has been covered by press outlets documenting her transition from incarceration to business ownership.[2]
In 2025, she incorporated A.P. Rose Foundation, Inc., a Georgia-based nonprofit organization. As of 2025, the foundation has completed state incorporation and is in the process of obtaining federal tax-exempt status.
Education and certifications
Paulk earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Augusta University (December 2024) and dual associate degrees in Sociology and Criminal Justice from Georgia Military College.
In July 2025, she graduated from Morehouse School of Medicine as a Doula and Perinatal Patient Navigator. She is currently enrolled at Morehouse again as a Community Health Worker, continuing her training in community-based health advocacy.
Her certifications include Phlebotomy Instructor (National Phlebotomy Association), CPR/BLS Instructor (American Heart Association), and Production Assistant (Backlot Academy).
Recognition
Paulk’s work and advocacy have been featured in regional and national media outlets, nonprofit publications, podcasts, and press releases highlighting her transition from incarceration to entrepreneurship and community leadership. In 2024, Paulk was named a Bettie Brand Fund Honoree for her leadership and advocacy work.[3]
