Draft:Apache Spatial Information System

Apache Spatial Information System (SIS) is a library for developing geospatial applications in the Java language. The project was established by The Apache Software Foundation in 2012.[1]. The library is an implementation of GeoAPI interfaces[2] focussing on standards defined by the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).[3]

Features

Apache SIS can perform coordinate operations between multi-dimensional Coordinate Reference Systems (CRS), read and write CRS definitions in Well-Known Text (WKT) or Geography Markup Language (GML) formats, and handle some geographic data formats[4]. The library is used in OGC Testbeds for prototyping new developments in standards such as non-terrestrial spatial referencing[5] and geo-intelligence imagery media[6]
