Anugula Reddy is an Indian politician from Telangana associated with the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS)
He contested as the BRS candidate for the Nalgonda–Khammam–Warangal Graduates' constituency in the Telangana Legislative Council elections.[2]
Early life and education
Rakesh Reddy was born in Hanamkonda, Telangana.[3] He studied at the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani.[4]
Career
Rakesh Reddy worked in the corporate sector before entering politics. He began his political career with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) where he served in the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) and later held organisational and spokesperson roles in Telangana.[5][6] During his time in the BJP, he participated in political campaigns and public outreach programmes in the Warangal region.[7]
In 2024 he joined the Bharat Rashtra Samithi in the presence of party leader K. T. Rama Rao.[8] He was later nominated as the BRS candidate for the Nalgonda–Khammam–Warangal Graduates' constituency in the Telangana Legislative Council by-election.[9][10] He contested the election and lost by a narrow margin to the Congress candidate.[11][12] Rakesh Reddy has criticised policies of the Telangana government on issues including HYDRAA demolitions, recruitment examinations and sports quota recruitment.[13][14] He has also commented publicly on Group-1 examinations, urban development issues, and employment-related matters in Telangana.[15][16]
In 2025 the Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC) reportedly issued a defamation notice to Rakesh Reddy following his allegations regarding the Group-1 examination process.[17][18] He has also participated in public, cultural and social welfare programmes in Telangana, including community events in Warangal, medical camps and skill development initiatives.[19][20][21]
